Apple’s redesigned iMacs might not get FaceID unlock, feature gets pushed back

Note that Apple's Face ID feature is limited to iPhones and iPads for now. However, the code found in macOS Big Sur Beta suggests that it may also access the iMac at some point.

Apple has been working on a new version of its iMac for a long time. This redesign is said to be the biggest overhaul in terms of looks, ever since the iMac line was launched in 2012. But according to a latest report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple's Face ID recognition software, which was originally said to be coming to the iMac, is now redesign, pushed into the second iteration of redesign.

The report also noted that "Apple has developed the facility to connect to the online via the smartphone network for Mac - and Face ID, the company's face recognition system." But neither feature is seen coming soon. By that time, Face ID was originally planned to arrive in this year's Redmaster, but it is now unlikely to be included in the first iteration of the new design. "

Bloomberg has previously reported that the redesigned iMac model will come around the display with slimmer bezels and no metal chins. The device looks similar to Pro Display XDR monitor that Apple launched in 2019.

It has also been mentioned that these new iMacs may come with a flat back and be in sync with the iPad Pro design language. Significantly, the iPhone 12 Series also has a similar block-like design profile.

According to preliminary reports, at least one iMac model will replace the 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. It features a 23 or 24 inch screen. However, it is not certain what the size of the second iMac will be.

The new 23 or 24-inch iMac is currently said to be the size of a 21.5-inch iMac. However, due to the slimmer bezels it may have a larger screen. it's also safe to assume that these are going to be powered by Apple's own silicon.
