Google Nest Hub, Smart Display gets new features

New sets for Google Nest Hub and Smart Display include sunrise alarms, Google's weather frog backgrounds, sticky notes, alarm customization with family tabs and more.

Google has launched a bunch of new features in Nest Hub and third-party Google Assistant Smart Display. New features have already been announced by Google, and are now available for these devices.

Android Police reported that the new set includes sunrise alarms, alarm customizations with Google's weather frog background, sticky notes, family tabs and more. Now you can ask Google to not only set an alarm, but also choose the tone it plays, repeats the day, its snooze period and morning routine.

There is also a new sunrise alarm that mimics the actual sunrise with a display that is slowly brightening. You can set the duration for the effect, add a smart light to it, and choose a tone for the sunrise alarm.

Google Nest Hub and Smart Display users can now choose Google Weather Frog as their background display. You can say, "Hey Google, set my photo frame" or manually set it by going to Settings> Photo Frame. The background of the Google Weather Frog will be dim and shiny according to the time of day.

Google's family-oriented features were announced last November, and are now widely available on smart displays. These contain digital sticky notes that can be created using Google Assistant. Some say "Hey Google, leave a family note that says defrost the pie" or "Hey Google, leave a family note that says we're out of paper wrapping." Google also updated Family Bell with new sound effects as part of this update. .

New features are starting to appear on smart displays, and should be available to all users soon.
